A substantial hollowform carved from a block of decomposing bigleaf maple, only the top surface has been textured. The rough, worn appearance evokes the feeling of an unearthed ancient clay pot.
The sides and bottom were turned and sanded smooth, creating a nice contrast between the raw, eroded texture and the sleek, refined surfaces. Finished with wax and buffed to a soft sheen.
