this is a short documentary about me! directed by my multi-talented friend, Kyle Stebbins
this is me.
I create one-of-a-kind woodturning pieces that honor the character and history of the trees they come from. Rather than hiding imperfections, I embrace them—letting the natural flaws and unique grain patterns shape each piece’s story.
Most of the wood I work with is salvaged from fallen trees in my NW Portland neighborhood. In my small garage-turned-workshop, I turn on a 750 lb (340 kg) lathe, transforming reclaimed wood into meaningful, expressive works.
Woodturning keeps me grounded, helping me stay on the path of being more aware of myself and how I’m feeling. It’s made me more in touch with who I am.
